Air leakage is also quantified as air permeability. This is the rate of leakage (m3/ h / m2)
in or out of the dwelling. It is measured at a reference pressure difference of 50Pa between the inside and outside of the dwelling.
In the UK good and best practice for air permeability in dwellings is between 3 and
7 m3/ h / m2.
Air Tightness Testing is a generic term in the industry and is
also known as:
Air Permeability Testing
Air Leakage Testing
Air Pressure Testing
Under the 2006 Revision to Part L1A of the Building Regulations, it is a mandatory requirement, not just guidance, to conduct air tightness testing.
All testing is conducted in accordance with ATTMA TS1 as referenced by part L1A of the building regulations.
The Building Control body is unable to provide a Completion Certificate without the necessary air tightness testing results which we can provide.
